Customer service is great too, I hope they stick around. The anti-matter part can make noisy 8-bit s-log footage look pretty darn good, you just can't overdue it. I don't know how it works other than it loves GPUs but adding grain (the "matter" part) gives what appears to be a sharper image. It's a one, two punch and I think that's what separates it from the rest.

I only tried neat a few times and it worked great but this anti-matter and matter is incredible. Thanks to an article here a while ago I purchased the plug in and it's amazing. Video is no longer available: And for those of you wondering how the plugin works, here's a good tutorial from Cinnafilm that explains how the Anti-Matter plugin uses spatial analysis of the three separate color channels in order to provide the best possible de-noising of an image: If you haven't seen what the Dark Energy plugin can do yet, here is a quick demo reel that shows just how powerful it is: Luckily for us, Cinnafilm permanently slashed the price yesterday in honor of Einstein's birthday.ĭark Energy for After Effects is now $200, previously $500. The only problem for most of us is that we're not made of money. Even though that campaign didn't succeed, the Dark Energy AE plugin is still one of the most wildly popular noise reduction/grain emulation tools on the market today. Most notably, Dark Energy played a crucial role in the post-production workflow of Shane Hurlbut's DLSR-shot film Act of Valor. The good people at Cinnafilm also ran a Kickstarter campaign to judge interest in porting the plugin over to the OFX platform (which would have made it compatible with Resolve, Nuke, Avid, and a host of other applications). I just did as explained above and now it works as intended, loading up plugins quickly and without issues. We've talked about the Cinnafilm Dark Energy de-noising plugin on several occasions. This long loading time made me think it crashed so I forced quit Resolve, which in time probably did something so it would freeze on all the later startups. I guess that initially Resolve just take quite a long time to rebuild the OFXPluginCache.xml the very first time I start Resolve after Plugin install.

I choose an empty one and then waited up to a full minute again for the "ofxinit" file to start to refresh the OFXPluginCache.xml with the new plugins I had copied into the Red Giant OFX plugins folder. Sometimes up to a full minute for Resolve to show splash screen after I had double-clicked the resolve EXE.Īfter splash screen and I could select a project. I found out while doing this that Resolve just need a lot of time to rebuild the OFXPluginCache.xml every time I added plugins. The directory for the Red Giant OFX Plugins folder can be found here:Ĭode: Select all C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins Then I copied back the plugins into the folder in groups of plugin name categories to check if there were any specific plugins that made resolve crash.

Restarted Resolve, enabled the OFX plugins, let Resolve rebuild the OFXPluginCache.xml.Ĭode: Select all C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\Davinci Resolve\Support (I just moved them to a temporary folder I made). I found a solution to my problem by deleting the ".ofxinit" and OFXPluginCache.xml, removed all plugins from the Red Giant OFX plugin folder. I removed the OFXPluginCache.xml and checked the OFX plugin directory to be sure that Universe Plug ins where gone. they might not be compatible and I uninstalled it, open up Resolve, and still keeps giving me error message and crashes.

In my window bar, It says "(Not Responding)" (on windows 10 btw). Installed them and Resolve started making an error and when Enabling OFX at the Color Page it just hangs. I have had a stable system, for a long time and wanted to use some of Red Giant Univers OFX plugins.
